First try drop the marker on top of a city. Then the coordinates should show on top of the fields saying "added automatically".
The software does not seem to accept locations in the oceans or too far north. If you keep to landmass, you should be fine though.
If the above does not work, check if the installation went well. For some people using "safemode off" on the servers, they may need to copy some files manually to the server (and/or manually add the sql tables).
